The Heart Behind Kin + Clay

Gabbi is the creative force and potter behind Kin + Clay, while her wife, Ash, brings their vision to life through design and community outreach. Together, they call Fresno, CA, home, where they share their lives with their incredible 7-year-old kiddo (an enthusiastic potter-in-training), two loyal German Shepherds, and their sweet kitty cat, PumpKIN Pie.

Gabbi’s journey with pottery is deeply personal. Her dad, a master potter for over 50 years, raised his family of 10 in Hurricane, Utah, a small town nestled at the base of Zion National Park. After his passing in 2021, Gabbi (youngest of the 10), inherited her dad’s beloved wheel and discovered her own love for ceramics. Pottery has become her way of honoring her dad’s legacy, sharing meaningful moments with family, and building connections within her community.

At Kin + Clay, “KIN” represents family in its fullest sense—whether bound by blood or love. Their mission is to make pottery accessible, bringing beauty, simplicity, and joy into as many homes as possible. Every piece they create is a labor of love, connecting stories, families, and communities—one pot at a time.

Pottery teaches the art of patience, finding grace though mistakes, and continues to be a beautiful reminder that something both useful and beautiful can be made out of mud.

Our Dream at Kin + Clay

At Kin + Clay, we believe in the magic of clay—the way it connects people, sparks creativity, and tells stories. Sharing that magic with others is our greatest joy, whether we’re at home in Fresno or off exploring new places with our family.

Our dream is to take Kin + Clay on the road! With your support, we hope to convert a camper trailer into a fully functional pottery studio on wheels. This mobile studio would allow us to bring the beauty and art of pottery to communities far and wide. We imagine setting up workshops, pop-ups, and demonstrations at local markets and breathtaking locations like national parks, where the stunning landscapes would inspire our work and create unforgettable experiences.

Traveling with our family and connecting with others along the way is at the heart of this dream. It’s about blending our love for adventure, nature, and pottery into a lifestyle that lets us share our craft with as many people as possible. Each piece of pottery you purchase brings us closer to this vision of expanding Kin + Clay.

About Kin + Clay Pottery

Kin + Clay creates small-batch pottery. Every item is hand-crafted with care and intention, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind. We do not typically keep a stock, when you are purchasing, you are “pre-ordering.” We have a constant flow kiln firings revolving monthly. Please reach out to us directly if you are hoping to have your order by a specific date. HOLIDAY ORDERS HAVE CLOSED- we cannot guarantee arrival before Christmas and if purchased after 12/12, orders will arrive in the New Year.
